What AI visibility is

Your buyers have stopped scrolling. They open ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini and ask one question: who should I pick? The answer names three or four brands and moves on. There is no page two.

AI visibility is how often you are one of those names. It is not your Google ranking. Plenty of brands sit on page one of Google and never appear in an AI answer. Plenty of smaller brands get recommended every time, because the web talks about them in the right places.

AI engines build answers from what they can find and trust. Review sites, directories, comparison articles, news coverage, your own pages. If your brand is consistent and cited across those sources, AI repeats it. If it is thin, scattered or missing, AI names your competitor instead. Most brands have never checked which side they are on.

How the AI visibility score works

We write 5 questions a real buyer in your category and location would ask. The best option near them. A recommendation for their situation. The most trusted name. Alternatives to the market leader. A problem your category solves. Your brand name never appears in the questions, so nothing is rigged in your favour.

Each question goes to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini with live web search switched on. That is 15 answers. We read every one and record who was named, in what order, and which websites were cited. Then we score four things.

Mention rate
40%. How many of the 15 answers name your brand.
Citation rate
25%. How many answers link to your website as a source.
Share of voice
20%. Your mentions against your competitors’ mentions.
Position
15%. Named first beats named fourth.

Mentions and citations are not the same thing. A mention means AI said your name. A citation means AI linked to your website as a source for its answer. Citations are harder to earn and worth more. They send clicks, and they tell you AI trusts your pages enough to quote them. A brand that is mentioned but never cited is being talked about. A brand that is cited is being believed.

0 to 24 is Invisible. 25 to 49 is Emerging. 50 to 74 is Competitive. 75 and above is Leading. Sentiment is in your report too, but it does not move the score. Being named is the first battle.

What to do with your score

Invisible. AI does not know you exist in this category. Start with the basics: the same brand name, description and details on your site, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn and every directory you are listed in. Then get listed where your category is reviewed.

Emerging. AI knows you, but not well enough to lead with you. You need more third-party proof. Reviews, trade press, comparison articles, industry lists. AI trusts what others say about you more than what you say about yourself.

Competitive. You are in the conversation. Now fight for position. Build pages that answer buyer questions in the first two sentences. Publish honest comparison and alternatives pages. Add schema so machines read your offer without guessing.

Leading. You are named first, often. Protect it. AI answers shift as new content appears, so check again every quarter and watch which competitor is closing in.

Whatever your band, the report gives you 5 fixes ranked for your category, with what to do and why. Start at the top. One fix done properly beats five started.

Questions people ask

What is an AI visibility checker?

It is a tool that asks AI answer engines the questions your buyers ask, then counts how often your brand is named, linked and ranked. This one asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini 5 buyer questions each and turns the answers into a score out of 100.

How do I check if ChatGPT recommends my brand?

Enter your brand, website, category and location above. We run 15 real buyer questions across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, then show your score on screen and email you the full report with every answer broken down.

Is the AI visibility check free?

Yes. Run it as often as you like. There is a fair-use limit of 5 checks per day from one connection, so the tool stays free for everyone.

Why is my score different each time AI is asked?

AI answers change between runs, between users and between days. The score is a snapshot of one moment, not a guarantee. What holds steady is the pattern: brands that are cited widely get named again and again.

How do I improve my visibility in AI search?

Make your brand easy to recognise and easy to trust. Keep your name and details consistent everywhere, earn mentions on sites AI already cites, write pages that answer buyer questions directly, add schema markup, and publish honest comparison content. Your report ranks these fixes for your category.
